Leaving behind a life as a big-city reporter, Kathy has happily owned and operated Gabriola Artworks for the past dozen years. Margy Gilmour - Director
email:
Moving from Saskatchewan to the Northwest Territories to Prince Edward Island to British Columbia, Margy has experienced many of the flavours that make up Canada. She’s a recent arrival on Gabriola, but has found life on this beautiful island to be very much to her taste. She has served on the board for the past year as its Secretary and as the Festival Gabriola team leader.

Jim Wilson-Storey - Director
email:
Jim and his family have lived on Gabriola for eleven years. When he retired, following a career as a public services management consultant, he began enthusiastically reinventing himself through his creative writing, gardening and volunteering.

Randi Lynch – Director
email:
Randi is a long time resident of Gabriola Island, she is a Realtor that works with her two daughters and is closely connected to the local business community.  She was raised and born on a farm in Norway where she was exposed to art and hard work at an early age and attended art school.

She has a passion for the Island community and enjoys the lifestyle that the Island offers.  If she’s got a spare moment in her week, she seizes the opportunity and jumps on her bike, hops in her kayak, gardens, quilts, does a little art or tends to her burn pile (if it’s not fire season).

Even if she doesn’t have much time to enjoy all of the activities that Gabriola offers, she does enjoy the friendly exchanges in the supermarket, the smiles around the Island and the amazing sense of community that is easily found here.

Kathy Brandon – Director
email:
Kathy moved to Gabriola with her husband 2 years ago from Vancouver.  Kathy enjoys the vibrancy of the Gabriola community, the creative energy, and the welcoming spirit of the people.  Kathy loves her work as a clinical Social Worker and is developing a counselling practice in Nanaimo.  Kathy also loves creating silver jewellery, and from this love has sprung her online business catering to metalsmith jewellery artists and the expansion of this business into a Learning Centre Studio for metalsmithing classes.  Along with her many sheep, chickens, dogs, Kathy is happily busy on this beautiful Isle of the Arts.

Julie Sperber – Director
email:
Julie moved to Gabriola a mere 3 years ago, but it felt like home the instant she stepped off the ferry.  As an artist she creates both one of a kind and limited production jewellery.   Recently, she has been excitedly dabbling in the world of metal and mixed media sculpture.  As well, she and her husband run the local mirco roaster coffee company. A mother, an artist and an entrepreneur, island life is the perfect place for her to find balance and inspiration.
